The well

This is what we found under a pile of stones in the side yard. The stone with the hole in it was cut from limestone as one piece - it will be re-assembled in the process of creating a wishing well.

Once opened we see this well is shaped like a light bulb - so very cool!

This well is very unusual in design. The stones that line the sides are dry stacked meaning there was no mortar supporting them as they come in towards center. We cannot see why they don't just fall. We cannot find this design on the web and welcome information from any that know of this. One man has suggested this was built from the top down.

This drawing gives a better view of how this well is shaped - perhaps it was used to keep food cool?

On its way to becoming a wishing well. The stone with the hole cut in center will be placed over the well inside the well house.
